Confirmation is for children who are in grade six or higher as of September 2008

 Sacramental Registration for Confirmation can take place at the following places and times:

• Parish Office
  Monday - Friday,  9:30 - 12:00 a.m.  / 1:00 - 3:00 p.m.
  
• Online Registration  

If your child was baptized at Holy Name Parish, please complete the Baptism information on the registration form. We will not require a copy of Holy Name's Baptism Certificate.  If he/she was baptized elsewhere we will need a copy of the Baptism Certificate. The copy can be handed in with the registration form or faxed to us at 249-9952 / atten. Linda. ( If the Baptism Certificate is not in English, please hand in a translation with the copy)

A $20.00 sacrament fee, covering the cost of the books will be collected at registration. Payable in cash or cheque to Holy Name Parish. Thank-you.

There will be a Parent Night Session For Parents

 Tuesday, June 10 @ 7:00 pm - 8:00 pm  or  Wednesday, June 11 @ 7:00 - 8:00 pm

 

CONFIRMATION SCHEDULE

Classes will begin September 17, 2008

Grade 6 and 7 Candidates have a choice of attending classes on Wednesday evenings from 7:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. or Saturday afternoons from 4:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m.

• Wednesday Classes, to take place in the church hall

  • September 17  - Class One

  • September 24 - Class Two

  • October 1  - Class Three

  • October 22 - Class Four

  • October 29 - Class Five

  • November 12  – Class Six
    

  • Confirmation Mass - November 19 @ 7:00 PM

 

• Saturday Classes, to take place in the church hall

  • September 20 - Class One

  • September 27 - Class Two

  • October 4 - Class Three

  • October 25 - Class Four

  • November 1- Class Five

  • November 15 - Class Six

  • Confirmation Mass - November 19 @ 7:00 PM

 

• Sunday Classes, Grades 8 & higher – 7:00 to 8:00 PM to take place in the church hall

• September 21 - Class One
• October 5 - Class Two
• October 19 - Class Three
• November 2 – Class Four
  

   

 

 

• To encourage participation in the Mass we will be having the candidates bring up the gifts. A sign up sheet will be posted at each of the classes.

There are a varieties of gifts, but the same Spirit; varieties of services, but the same Lord; varieties of activities, but it is the same God who inspires them all in everyone. To each is given the manifestation of the Spirit for the common good.

CANDIDATE CHECK LIST

• Sponsor

  • - must be 18 or older
    - must be a confirmed practicing Catholic

  • - Sponsors name and information is required by October 31, 2008

• Saint Name

  • choose the name of a saint who represents a cause you find important

  • choose the name of someone in the bible who you admire

  • choose the name your parents gave you at baptism

    - Saint Name and information is required by October 31, 2008

• Bishop Letter

  • personal letter to the Bishop requesting Confirmation. A sample copy is attached – use your words, listen to your heart – your words will be perfect.

    - Bishop's Letter is to be handed in by October 31, 2008

• Acts of Service

  • To be Catholic Christians, we need to be more than people who participate in Mass on Sunday. We must be people of stewardship, people of action, people of service. During your preparation for confirmation you are called on to begin your ministry, the ministry of you. We are asking for a minimum of ten hours of acts of service between now and October 31, 2008. Attached is a service evaluation sheet, these sheets are for your purpose. To record your services and reflect on the value of your experience. Service is anything from the smallest of help extended to your family to taking up a cause of goodwill. You are already ministers of action, now you get to record your good acts.

Please remember to take lots of pictures when you are performing your service. These pictures will be used in a display at the church.
