Confirmation Program 2011
ALIVE IN THE SPIRIT!
Confirmation is for children who are in grade six or higher as of September 2011
Sacramental Registration for Confirmation can take place at the following places and times:
- Parish Office
Monday - Friday, 9:30 - 12:00 a.m. / 1:00 - 4:00 p.m.
- Online Registration click on online registration to go directly to registration
If your child was baptised at Holy Name Parish, please complete the Baptism information on the registration form and we do not require a copy of Holy Name's Baptism Certificate. If he/she was baptised elsewhere we will need a copy of the Baptism Certificate. The copy can be handed in with the registration form or faxed to Holy Name at 403.249.9952 / atten. Linda. ( If the Baptism Certificate is not in English, please hand in a translation with the copy. Please note that we do not require a certified translation.)
A $30.00 sacrament fee, covering the cost of materials will be collected at registration. Payable in cash or cheque to Holy Name Parish. Thank-you.
CONFIRMATION SCHEDULE
Parent Information Night - Meeting Room Church Basement:

Classes will begin September, 2011
Grade 6 and 7 Candidates have a choice of attending classes at one of the following times. Please note that the classes are interchangeable and a candidate can attend either class of each week. We ask that the candidate attend one of the classes each week. All classes are held in the church meeting room in the basement.
Grade 6/ 7 Wednesday evenings from 7:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m.
Class One - September 28
Class Two - October 12
Class Three - October 19
Class Four - November 2
Class Five - November 16
Grade 6/7 Saturday afternoons from 4:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m.
Class One - October 1
Class Two - October 15
Class Three - October 22
Class Four - November 5
Class Five - November 19
Grades 8 & higher classes are held on Sunday evening – 7:00 to 8:30 pm
Class One - October 2
Class Two - October 16
Class Three - October 23
Class Four - November 6
Class Five - November 20
Reconciliation Service - November 9th 7:00 pm
All candidates are required to receive Reconciliation prior to their Confirmation Mass. Candidates that have not received their First Reconciliation will be prepared in class.We will be holding a Reconcilation Service for the candidates and their families on November 9th. Candidates that are not able to attend the service will need to attend the regular scheduled Reconciliation at Holy Name on Saturdays from 4:00 - 4:45 pm.
Retreat - November 20 ( Details TBA)
Confirmation Rehearsal - November 23, 6:30 pm
- We will have a rehearsal for all the candidates and their sponsors on November 23, we ask that everyone be at the church by 6:30 pm. If the sponsor is unable to attend we will require a parent or family member to attend so as to inform the sponsor of their role at the Mass.
Confirmation Mass - November 25, 7:00 pm
- All the candidates and the sponsors are required to be at the church by 6:30 pm
Gifts at Mass
To encourage participation in the Mass we will be having the candidates bring up the gifts. A sign up sheet will be posted at each of the classes.

Acts of Service
-
To be Catholic Christians, we need to be more than people who participate in Mass on Sunday. We must be people of stewardship, people of action, people of service. During your preparation for confirmation you are called on to begin your ministry, the discipleship of you. We are asking for a minimum of ten hours of acts of service between now and October 31, 2011. Attached is a service evaluation sheet, these sheets are for your purpose. To record your services and reflect on the value of your experience. Service is anything from the smallest of help extended to your family to taking up a cause of goodwill. You are already disciples of action, now you get to record your good acts.
